Lyme Disease

Dr. Brad Gulla, Colorado Springs ChiropractorEight years ago I was bitten by a tick which infected me with Lyme disease. Since that moment in time, my life has never been the same. After years of intensive PT and being under the care of several different specialists, I was without hope of a cure or ever walking correctly again. While I learned to function with my condition, premature damage was being done to my spine and this was creating its own set of issues. I was constantly fatigued and in pain 24/7. My condition certainly did not make being a wife and mom of five very easy.

Since being under the care of Dr. Gulla, I have not needed any type of NSAID to get me throught the day. And to sheer amazement, my gait was perfect after my second appointment! Also, at the time of my initial visit, I was in fear that cycling, the one activity I was still able to enjoy, was going to be taken away from me due to having seizures. With a huge smile, I can happily say that I have no had a single spell while riding on my bike since the first week of being under his care. Thank you, Dr. Gulla, for giving me a hope for a better tomorrow and a passion for living life each day!

Neck Injury

Dr. Brad Gulla, Colorado Springs Chiropractor

For 25 years I suffered frequent terrifying intermittent, debilitating spinning attacks as a result of a neck injury that modern medical technology could not relieve or cure. For the next 23 years regular chiropractic adjustments, along with consultant elimination of head positions that triggered the attacks, brought immediate, but never permanent, relief. Then I was referred to Dr. Brad Gulla, a Colorado Springs-based chiropractic neurologist. Following a non-invasive neurological evaluation and simple, completely stress-free 10-minute procedure, my spinning attacks stopped completely. They have not returned in over two years. Thank you for my miracle, Dr. Gulla! I have my life back!

Automobile Accident

Dr. Gulla is giving me back a life that is worthwhile following a 65 mile per hour, double roll over automobile accident that left me hanging up side down in my seat belt. I sustained a substantial brain injury, as well as multiple injuries to my neck and spine along with cuts and bruises. Before the accident I owned and operated an interior decorating business for about fifteen years. I worked out at the gym three times a week. I had lots of friends and a normal social life. I loved to cook, sew, and paint as hobbies. I played chess and frequently won.

When I first came to Dr. Gulla about two years ago my communication skills were so impaired that I talked more about the struggles of trying to get proper care than about the problems for which I sought help. I could not think of what I needed to say and when I did think of something important I could not get the words to come out of my mouth. I frequently had pain all over my body. My eyes were often red with excruciating pain that lasted for several weeks at a time. Sometimes I had accidents involving both bladder and bowels. I had trouble holding my head up all day and I did not dare turn my head to either side for more than a few seconds without painful consequences. I had very limited use of arms, hands, and fingers. I was able to paint pictures but I had to stop after only a few minutes and so it took months to complete one painting. It was very frustrating. I was very unstable on my feet. I had to spend more time in bed than I could be up during the day. I had to lie in bed all afternoon and evening barely able to make it to the bathroom. I got used to having no dinner because it was just too hard to get. In spite of all my efforts to over organize trying to compensate for deficits related to my brain injury I could not keep up with the basics of housekeeping and so I lived with clutter. Most of the time I have no pain now. Even more important than that, is the fact that I can tell my brain works better. My communication and my memory have improved. My arms, hands, and fingers are less impaired. I still am very slow doing basic activities of daily living, but I can do things without having excruciating pain because I did them. I am better able to see what is needed and organizational skills are improving. Some days I only have to rest two or three hours during the afternoon. I always get to have dinner now! I have switched from acrylics to watercolors, which is done with a lighter touch, but I can enjoy painting for several hours at a time now. Just the other day, for the first time since the accident, I was able to hold my watercolor palette in my left hand and paint with my right at the same time for a little while! I believe this means my fine motor skills are improving. My balance has improved and my general health is better. My life is nothing close to normal, but with a brain injury one has to be thankful if they can carve out some kind of a life that is fulfilling. Dr. Gulla has made that possible for me.
